अनङ्गसरा से विशल्या- वज्रनाभि चक्रवर्ती की बेटी अनङ्गसरा को एक विद्याधर हरण करके ले गया, पत्नि के भय से जङ्गल में छोड़ गया, अनङ्गसरा तीन हजार वर्ष तक जङ्गल में रही, स्थान का परिमाण कर सल्लेखना ले ली थी, एक अजगर ने उसको निगल लिया, तभी पिता को मालूम हुआ, तब वे जङ्गल में लेने गये, सर्प को मारने की सोची, बेटी ने रोका और अभय दान दिलाया, जिसके फल से विशल्या हुयी, उसके स्नान का पानी औषधि के समान था, जब लक्ष्मण जी को शक्ति लगी थी तो विशल्या के आते ही वह निकल कर भाग गयी थी।

From Anangasara to Vishalya: a Vidyadhar abducted Anangasara, daughter of the Chakravarti Vajranabhi, and, fearing his wife, abandoned her in the jungle. She lived there three thousand years and, limiting her domain, took sallekhana. A python swallowed her; only then did her father learn of her. He came to the jungle and meant to kill the serpent, but his daughter stopped him and had the gift of fearlessness granted. By its fruit she became Vishalya, whose bath-water was like medicine; when Lakshman was struck by the Shakti weapon, at Vishalya's coming it drew out and fled.
