जनता पार्टी के नेता श्री के-के- हेगड़े की पत्नि ने आचार्य विद्यानन्द जी को बतलाया था कि सौ वर्ष पहले की बात है, कि जैन परिवार में एक व्यक्ति ने शिकार कर दिया था तो समाज ने उसे जाति से बन्द कर दिया था, प्रभावशाली परिवार होने से दस हजार अन्य लोग भी वैष्णव बन गये थे, जिस दिन वे लोग जैन से वैष्णव बने थे, उस दिन वे लोग प्रति वर्ष जैन मन्दिर में पूजा पाठ करते हैं एवं सात्विक भोजन करते हैं, अतः एक व्यक्ति के पाप के पीछे अनेकों को वीतराग धर्म से वञ्चित नहीं करना चाहिए, प्रायश्चित्त प्रतिक्रमण से शुद्ध करना चाहिए।

Hegde told Acharya Vidyanand ji that a hundred years ago a man in a Jain family had gone hunting, so the community expelled him from the caste; being an influential family, ten thousand others also became Vaishnavs. On the very day they turned from Jain to Vaishnav, those people, every year, perform worship in the Jain temple and eat sattvic food. Therefore, for the sin of one person, many should not be deprived of the dispassionate dharma; they should be purified through penance and confession.
