वायु से ताड़ित, पत्थर तथा घटीयन्त्र से ताड़ित एवं सूर्य की किरणों से संतप्त वापिका के जल को मुनि प्रासुक मानते हैं, यद्यपि उपर्युक्त लक्षण वाला जल आगम में प्रासुक कहा गया है तथापि अत्यावश्यकता वश उससे स्नान ही करना चाहिए, उसे बिना छने पीना नहीं चाहिए। वस्त्र धोने तथा नहाने का पानी जलाशय में नहीं जाना चाहिए।

Ascetics regard as prasuka (lifeless/pure) the water of a well that is beaten by wind, struck by stone and water-wheel, and heated by the sun's rays. Though such water is called prasuka in scripture, yet even so one should only bathe with it under necessity and should not drink it unfiltered. Water used for washing clothes and bathing should not go back into the reservoir.
