आकर्णितोऽपि महितोऽपि निरीक्षितोऽपि, नूनं न चेतसि मया विधृतोऽसि भक्त्या। जातोऽस्मि तेन जनबान्धव! दुखपात्रं, यस्मात्क्रियाः प्रतिफलन्ति न भाव शून्याः।।

हे जनबान्धव! मैंने आपका नाम सुना, पूजा दर्शन भी किये, किन्तु भक्ति पूर्वक हृदय में धारण नहीं किया, इसलिए दुःखों का पात्र हुआ हूँ, क्योंकि भाव शून्य क्रिया पूर्ण फलदायी नहीं होती है।

O friend of all people! I have heard your name and performed worship and darshan, yet I did not truly enshrine you in my heart with devotion — and so I have become a vessel of sorrows; for actions empty of feeling do not bear their full fruit.
