किसी साधु में दर्शन-ज्ञान-चारित्र तीनों ही प्रधानता से रहते हैं। किसी में दो प्रधानता से रहते हैं और किसी में सम्यग्दर्शन के लिए प्रधानता से उद्यम होता है। प्रायः कोई साधु गुणरहित नहीं होता है अतः सभी निर्ग्रन्थ मुद्रा के धारक मुनि सत्पुरुषों के लिए स्तुति करने के योग्य हैं।

In some ascetics all three — faith, knowledge and conduct — predominate; in some two predominate; and in some the effort predominates toward right faith. Hardly any ascetic is devoid of virtue, so all monks who bear the naked (nirgrantha) form are worthy of praise by the good.
