धर्मात्मा में, व्रतों में, स्वाध्याय में, जिन पूजन में वात्सल्य करो, वात्सल्य गुण के प्रभाव से ही समस्त द्वादशाङ्ग विद्या सिद्ध होती है, सिद्धान्त सूत्र (ज्ञान) में और सिद्धान्त के उपदेशक उपाध्याय (ज्ञानी) में सच्ची भक्ति के प्रभाव से ज्ञानावरण कर्म का रस सूख जाता है जिससे समस्त विद्याएं सिद्ध होती हैं, वात्सल्य गुण के धारक को देव भी नमस्कार करते हैं और वात्सल्य से ही अठारह प्रकार की बुद्धि ऋद्धि, दो प्रकार की आकाश गामिनी ऋद्धि, अनेक प्रकार की चारण ऋद्धि, अनेक प्रकार की विक्रिया ऋद्धि, तीन प्रकार की बल ऋद्धि, सात प्रकार की तप ऋद्धि, छ: प्रकार की रस ऋद्धि, आठ प्रकार की औषध ऋद्धि, दो प्रकार की क्षेत्र ऋद्धि इत्यादि अनेक ऋद्धियाँ प्रकट होती हैं।

Practice vatsalya toward the pious, toward the vows, toward self-study and toward worship of the Jina. By the power of the quality of vatsalya alone is all the twelvefold scriptural learning mastered. Through true devotion toward the doctrinal sutras (knowledge) and toward the upadhyaya who teaches the doctrine, the potency of knowledge-obscuring karma dries up, and all learning is attained. Even gods bow to the holder of vatsalya, and through vatsalya arise the eighteen kinds of intellect-riddhi, two kinds of sky-going riddhi, many kinds of charana-riddhi, many kinds of transformation-riddhi, three kinds of strength-riddhi, seven kinds of austerity-riddhi, six kinds of taste-riddhi, eight kinds of medicine-riddhi, two kinds of field-riddhi, and many other supernatural powers.
