एक राजा की असमय में मृत्यु हो गई, उसका बच्चा छोटा था उसे ही राजा बना दिया, पड़ोसी राजा ने मौके का लाभ उठाना चाहा, पर बच्चे के मंत्रियों ने कहा राजन्! राज्य तो राजा सम्भालेंगे, जब तक वे छोटे हैं तब तक हम सहयोग करेंगे, मन्त्री की बात सुनकर राजा ने कहा यदि हमारे प्रश्नों का बच्चा उत्तर दे देगा तो हम राज्य नहीं लेगें, सबको चिन्ता हुई, माँ ने बच्चे को रात भर समझाया बेटा राजा ऐसा पूँछे तो ऐसा उत्तर देना, प्रात: काल जब जाने लगा तो बच्चे ने कहा माँ! यदि राजा ने इन प्रश्नों में से कोई भी प्रश्न नहीं पूँछा तो क्या मैं अपनी कल्पना से भी उत्तर दे सकता हूँ? माँ ने कहा! हाँ बेटा पर लाज रखना, बच्चा राजा के सामने उपस्थित हुआ, राजा ने उसके दोनों हाँथ पकड़ लिये और कहा आप पराधीन हो अपनी रक्षा कैसे करोगे? तब बच्चे ने उत्तर दिया, राजन् विवाह के समय जब लड़का कन्या का एक हाँथ पकड़ता है तो पूरे जीवन रक्षा करनी पड़ती है, आपने तो मेरे दोनों हाथ पकड़ लिये हैं, अब हम निश्चिन्त हैं, राजा ने प्रसन्न होकर छाती से लगा लिया, राज गद्दी दे दी, इसी प्रकार जो भगवान के दोनों चरण की शरण ले लेता है उसे किसी प्रकार की चिन्ता नहीं रहती है।

A king died untimely; his son was small yet was made king. A neighbouring king sought to exploit the moment, but the child's ministers said, 'O king, the king will manage the realm; while he is young, we will assist.' Hearing this, the king said, 'If the child answers my questions, I will not take the kingdom.' All grew anxious; the mother coached the child all night: 'Son, if the king asks this, answer thus.' At dawn, as he set out, the boy said, 'Mother, if the king asks none of these questions, may I answer from my own imagination?' She said, 'Yes son, but preserve our honour.' The child came before the king, who grasped both his hands and said, 'You are dependent — how will you protect yourself?' The child replied, 'O king, at marriage when a boy grasps a girl's one hand he must protect her all his life; You have grasped both my hands — now I am free of worry.' Pleased, the king embraced him and gave him the throne. In the same way, one who takes refuge in both feet of God has no anxiety of any kind.
