कुम्हार का दर्शन- एक व्यक्ति को मुनिराज ने देवदर्शन का नियम दिया तो वह कहने लगा की हमारे घर से मन्दिर दूर है, तो मुनिराज ने कहा तुम्हारे घर के सामने कौन रहता है? व्यक्ति बोला! 'कुम्हार', तो मुनिराज ने कहा प्रतिदिन उसी के दर्शन कर लिया करो, तो व्यक्ति तैयार हो गया और प्रतिदिन कुम्हार के दर्शन करने लगा, एक दिन कुम्हार सुबह-सुबह मिट्टी लेने दूर खान पर चला गया, तो व्यक्ति ढूँढ़ते हुए खान पर गया, कुम्हार मिट्टी खोद रहा था तो उसे स्वर्ण मोहरों से भरा एक घड़ा मिला, व्यक्ति दर्शन करके लौट रहा था, तो कुम्हार ने उसे देख लिया और सोचा कि लगता है इसने ये खजाने का घड़ा देख लिया है और ये अगर राजा के पास जाकर बोल देगा तो खजाना भी जाएगा और मैं भी जेल जाऊँगा, तो उस व्यक्ति को बुलाकर कहा कि देखो आधा तुम ले लो और आधा मैं ले लेता हूँ, व्यक्ति सोचता है कि इस कुम्हार के नियम पूर्वक दर्शन से इतना लाभ हुआ है तो भगवान् के दर्शन करने से पता नहीं कितना लाभ होगा और उसने प्रतिदिन देवदर्शन का नियम ले लिया।

Beholding the potter — A muni gave a man the vow of daily god-darshan, but he protested that the temple was far from his home. The muni asked who lived opposite his house. 'A potter,' the man said. The muni told him to behold the potter daily. The man agreed and began viewing the potter each day. One day the potter went early to a distant pit to fetch clay; the man, searching, followed to the pit. As the potter dug, he found a pot full of gold coins. The man, having had his darshan, was returning when the potter spotted him and thought, 'It seems he has seen this pot of treasure; if he goes and tells the king, the treasure will be lost and I will go to jail.' So he called the man and said, 'Look, take half and I will keep half.' The man reflected: if disciplined viewing of this potter brought such gain, then beholding God, who knows how great the gain will be — and he took the vow of daily god-darshan.
