भावों का प्रभाव- राजा भटक गया, जङ्गल में बुढ़िया की कुटिया पर गया पानी माँगा, बुढ़िया ने कहा बेटा लू लग जायेगी, बगीचा से एक अनार का लौटा भर रस लाकर राजा को पिलाया, राजा ने सोचा इतना सुन्दर बगीचा मेरे राज्य में आता है या नहीं ? मन्त्री से पता करवाया, अपना है तो 'कर' लगाना है, अगली बार राजा फिर भटक कर, बुढ़िया के यहाँ गया, जूस माँगा, अब बुढ़िया ने पचास अनारों को निचोड़ा फिर आधा लोटा जूस निकला, वह भी बेस्वाद था, राजा ने पूँछा आज क्या हो गया, बुढ़िया ने कहा ! राजा का भाव बिगड़ गया है, भावों का प्रभाव पड़ता है।

The effect of dispositions: a king lost his way and came to an old woman's hut in the forest and asked for water. She said, 'Son, you'll suffer heatstroke', and brought a full pot of juice from one pomegranate and gave it to the king to drink. The king thought, does such a fine garden fall within my kingdom or not? He had his minister find out—if it is ours, we must levy a tax. Next time the king again lost his way and came to the old woman's, and asked for juice; now she squeezed fifty pomegranates and only half a pot of juice came out, and even that was tasteless. The king asked what had happened today; the old woman said, 'The king's disposition has soured'—dispositions have their effect.
