वज्रकर्ण का नियम- एक बार वज्रकर्ण ने मुनि महाराज से नियम लिया कि मैं देव-शास्त्र-गुरु के अलावा किसी को नमस्कार नहीं करूँगा, जब वह अपने स्वामी सिंहोदर के सामने जाता था तो अपनी अङ्गूठी में मुनिसुव्रतनाथ भगवान् के चित्र को नमस्कार करता था, एक बार किसी ने सिंहोदर राजा से शिकायत कर दी, कि वज्रकर्ण आपको नमस्कार नहीं करता है, तो सिंहोदर ने आदेश दे दिया कि ! वज्रकर्ण का सर्वस्व हरण करके बन्दी बना लो, इसी समय राम-लक्ष्मण-सीता वहाँ पहुँचते हैं, लक्ष्मण को भोजन के लिए आया जानकर वज्रकर्ण ने तीनों को स्वादिष्ट भोजन कराया, रामचन्द्रजी लक्ष्मण से कहते हैं ! 'ऐसा भोजन तो कोई अपने जमाई को भी नहीं करायेगा', अतः इस धर्मात्मा की विपत्ति दूर करना चाहिए, लक्ष्मण जाकर सिंहोदर को बन्दी बना लाते हैं, वज्रकर्ण से पूँछते हैं कि इसको क्या सजा दी जाय ? तब वज्रकर्ण कहता है की ये हमारे स्वामी हैं, इनको क्षमा कर दीजिये, सिंहोदर ने क्षमा से प्रभावित होकर आधा राज्य वज्रकर्ण को दे दिया।

Vajrakarna's vow: once Vajrakarna took a vow from a muni that he would bow to none but the Deva, Shastra and Guru; when he went before his lord Simhodara he would bow to the image of Lord Munisuvratnath in his ring. Once someone complained to King Simhodara that Vajrakarna did not bow to him, and Simhodara ordered that Vajrakarna's all be seized and he be imprisoned. At that time Rama, Lakshmana and Sita arrived; learning that Lakshmana had come for food, Vajrakarna fed all three delicious food. Rama said to Lakshmana, 'No one would feed even his son-in-law such food; the calamity of this pious man should be removed.' Lakshmana went and brought Simhodara captive and asked Vajrakarna what punishment should be given; Vajrakarna said, 'He is my lord, forgive him.' Impressed by his forgiveness, Simhodara gave Vajrakarna half his kingdom.
