रानी अमृता का छल- अष्टावक्र महावत के मधुर गान पर आसक्त होकर विषय सेवन करने लगी, रहस्य खुलने को हुआ तो यशोधर राजा को जहर दे दिया, वैद्यों को बुलाया, आने के पहले रानी छल से बोली, राजा को दृष्टिविष उत्पन्न हुआ, बाल बिखेर कर रोने लगी और राजा की छाती पर गिर पड़ी, चुपके से गला दबा दिया, राजा मर गया, अष्टावक्र के साथ खूब भोग भोगने लगी, अन्त में गलित कुष्ट हुआ, मरकर नरक गयी, मधुर स्वर के श्रवण से वासना जाग्रत होती है, इसलिये नहीं सुनना चाहिए।

Queen Amrita's deceit: infatuated by the sweet singing of the mahout Ashtavakra, she indulged in sensual union; when the secret was about to break, she poisoned King Yashodhar. She summoned the physicians, but before they arrived she cunningly claimed the king had developed a poisonous evil eye, and, hair dishevelled, wept and fell on his chest, quietly strangling him; the king died. She then revelled with Ashtavakra, in the end contracted rotting leprosy, died and went to hell. Hearing sweet voices arouses lust, so one should not listen to them.
