वचन चातुर्य-चार महिलायें एक साधु से बात करने के बहाने आती हैं, और पहली ने कहा विचारणीय बाबा! पानी दे दो, दूसरी ने कहा बाबा अग्नि दे दो, तीसरी ने कहा बाबा गोद में ले लो, चौथी महिला ने कहा बाबा आपके खेत में पशु घुस गये हैं, साधु चारों का एक ही उत्तर देते हैं कि 'वारि नहीं है', पानी को भी वारि कहते हैं, अग्नि वारी नहीं, वारी मतलब छोटी सी नहीं है, खेती वारी नहीं है।

Four women came to a sage on the pretext of conversation. One asked for water, another for fire, the third to be taken in his lap, and the fourth said cattle had entered his field. To all four the sage gave a single reply—'vaari nahin hai'—playing on the word 'vaari,' which can mean water, restraint, littleness, and cultivation, so that one phrase answered every request.
