कुलप्रसूतस्य न पाणीपद्मं, न जारजातस्य शिरो विषाणं। यदा यदा मुञ्चति वाक्यवाणं, तदा तदा जाति कुलप्रमाणं।।

उच्च कुल के मनुष्य के हाथ में कमल का चिन्ह नहीं होता एवं व्यभिचारी की सन्तान के सिर में सींग नहीं होते किन्तु जब वाणी का प्रयोग करता है तो जाति कुल का प्रमाण अपने आप हो जाता है।

A man of noble birth bears no lotus-mark on his palm, nor does a bastard bear horns on his head; but the moment he uses his speech, the measure of his birth and family reveals itself.
