डाकू खड़गसिंह ने बाबाभारती का घोड़ा अपाहिज का भेष धारण कर मदद के बहाने छुड़ा लिया, बाबाभारती ने डाकू खड़गसिंह से कहा कि तूने अपाहिज का वेश बनाकर घोड़ा लिया है, ये छल है ऐसा किसी से मत कहना नहीं तो कोई भी गरीब अनाथ अपाहिज लोगों पर विश्वास नहीं करेगा। यह बात सुनकर रात भर डाकू को नींद नहीं आई, और सुबह आकर उसने घोड़ा वापिस कर दिया।

The bandit Khadagsingh, disguising himself as a cripple, took away Baba Bharti's horse on the pretext of needing help. Baba Bharti said to him, 'You have taken the horse by dressing as a cripple; this is a deceit—tell no one of it, or no one will ever trust the poor, orphaned and crippled again.' Hearing this, the bandit could not sleep all night, and in the morning he came and returned the horse.
