माया का फल स्वयं ने पाया- एक ठाकुर था वह एक व्यापारी से द्वेष करता था, एक दिन व्यापारी उस गाँव में अपनी वसूली करने के लिए गया, तो उस ठाकुर ने अपने एक नौकर को नियुक्त किया कि इस रास्ते से व्यापारी आये तो तुम उसको मार डालना, भाग्य की बात व्यापारी दूसरे रास्ते से अपने घर चला गया। बहुत देर तक जब नौकर नहीं आया तो ठाकुर ने अपने लड़के को भेजा। जैसे ही नौकर को लड़का आता दिखा उसने गोली मार दी, उसने समझा यही व्यापारी है। माया का फल स्वयं को भोगना पड़ा।

He reaped the fruit of his own deceit—A thakur bore a grudge against a merchant. One day the merchant went to that village to collect his dues, so the thakur posted a servant with orders: 'If the merchant comes by this road, kill him.' As luck would have it, the merchant went home by another road. When the servant did not return for a long time, the thakur sent his own son. As soon as the servant saw the boy approaching, he shot him dead, thinking he was the merchant. Thus the thakur had to suffer the fruit of his own deceit.
