'Speak what is in the mind, and do with the body what is spoken'—this saying applies to the great sages, in whose minds there is always compassion for every living being; when they utter in words what is in their minds it benefits beings, and when they act with the body it brings welfare to all beings. But for other beings it is otherwise: keep in the mind what is in the mind, and do not do with the body what is in the speech—for if they voice their minds it will harm others, since their minds usually hold ill-will, and if they act, many will be ruined. Moreover, deceit exists even in one-sensed beings that have no mind; a monk absorbed in meditation possesses straightforwardness, and even the liberated Siddhas, devoid of all three activities, possess it. Thus inner crookedness is called maya and inner simplicity is called arjava dharma; mind, speech and body are material, while arjava dharma is a quality of the soul.
