बुढ़िया को कूबड़ हो गया, लोग चिढ़ाते थे, वह दुःखी थी, एक व्यक्ति ने कहा माँ दुःखी मत होओ इसका समाधान मैं जानता हूँ, बुढ़िया ने पूँछा क्या ठीक करना जानता है? व्यक्ति ने कहा हाँ, तो ठीक कर दूँ? बुढ़िया बोली जब ठीक करना जानता है, तो लगाना भी जानता है? व्यक्ति बोला हाँ जानता हूँ, तब बुढ़िया ने कहा, मेरी कूबड़ रहने दे, जो मेरी मजाक करते हैं, उनकी पीठ पर एक-एक कूबड़ लगा दे, बस मेरा दुःख खत्म हो जायेगा, व्यक्ति दूसरों के दुःख को देखकर सुखी होना चाहता है जो असम्भव है।

An old woman got a hunchback and people mocked her, and she was unhappy. A man said, mother, do not grieve, I know the remedy. She asked, do you know how to cure it? He said yes, shall I fix it? She said, if you know how to cure it, you also know how to give one? He said yes, I do. Then she said, leave my hunch as it is, and put one hunch each on the backs of those who mock me, and my sorrow will end. A person wishes to be happy by seeing others' sorrow, which is impossible.
