सिद्धोऽसि बुद्धोऽसि निरञ्जनोऽसि, संसार माया परिवर्जितोऽसि। संसारस्वप्नं तज मोहनिद्रां, मदालसा वाक्यमुवाच पुत्र!॥

मिट्टी का घड़ा, महिला के शिर पर खड़ा- जमीन में पड़ी मिट्टी ने घड़े से पूँछा, तुम्हारा और हमारा अंश और वंश एक है, फिर तुम सिर पर विराजे हो और मैं पैरों के नीचे पड़ी हूँ? घड़े ने कहा बहिन सत्य है किन्तु हमने खूब संस्कार रूप यातनाएँ सही हैं, कुम्हार ने सबसे पहले परिवार से जुदा किया, खोदा, पानी में गलाया, फिर रौंदा, लौंदा बनाकर चाक पर रखकर घुमाया, चीवर(कपड़े) से काटा, लकड़ी से पीटा, धूप में सुखाया, अवा में पकाया, इतने कष्ट सहे, तब सुन्दरी के सिर का सिंहासन मिला है, इसी प्रकार मानव को संस्कार मिलता है, तो पूज्य बनता है, गर्भ में भी संस्कार मिलता है, अभिमन्यु ने चक्रव्यूह में प्रवेश करना गर्भ में ही सीख लिया था, किन्तु सुभद्रा को नींद आने से चक्रव्यूह से निकलना नहीं सीख पाया था, संस्कार से मुनि या राजा बनते हैं, राजरानी मदालसा ने अपने बैटों को मुनि के संस्कार डाले, खिलाती, सुलाती, झुलाती, पिलाती तब 'सिद्धोऽसि बुद्धोऽसि निरञ्जनोऽसि, संसार माया परिवर्जितोऽसि। संसारस्वप्नं तज मोहनिद्रां, मदालसा वाक्यमुवाच पुत्र!॥' हे पुत्र! तु सिद्धों के समान है, केवलज्ञानियों के समान है, कर्म कलुषता से रहित है, संसार की माया से रहित है, तु संसार को स्वप्न के समान समझकर मोह रूपी निद्रा को छोड़ इत्यादि संस्कारों से सात बेटे मुनि बन गये, तब ससुरजी ने कहा बेटा एक पुत्र ऐसा दो, जो राज्य को चला सके, तब मदालसा ने उसको राजा बनने के संस्कार डाले 'त्वं शूरोऽसि (तुम शूर हो), त्वं वीरोऽसि (तुम वीर हो)' इत्यादि संस्कार देने से वह राजा बना।

'The clay pot, standing on a woman's head' — the clay lying on the ground asked the pot, 'Our substance and lineage are one, so why do you sit on people's heads while I lie underfoot?' The pot said, 'Sister, it is true, but I endured much refining torment: the potter first parted me from my family, dug me up, soaked me in water, trod me, shaped me into a lump, spun me on the wheel, cut me with cloth, beat me with wood, dried me in the sun and baked me in the kiln — after so much suffering I gained the throne of a fair woman's head.' Likewise, when a human receives refinement he becomes worthy of honour. Values are received even in the womb: Abhimanyu learned to enter the chakravyuha in the womb but could not learn to exit because his mother Subhadra fell asleep. Through good values one becomes a muni or a king. Queen Madalasa instilled in her sons the values of a muni while feeding, putting to sleep, rocking and nursing them: 'You are like the Siddhas, like the omniscient, free of the taint of karma, free of worldly illusion; regard the world as a dream and cast off the sleep of delusion' — through such teaching seven of her sons became munis. When her father-in-law asked for one son who could rule the kingdom, Madalasa instilled in him the values of kingship, 'You are brave, you are a hero,' and he became a king.
