समुद्र खारा, चन्द्रमा कलंकित, सूर्य तीक्ष्ण, मेघ चपल, आकाश शून्य, कामधेनु पशु, कल्पवृक्ष काष्ठ, चिन्तामणि पाषाण है अतः सज्जनों की समानता किससे हो? अर्थात् सज्जन इन सबसे भी श्रेष्ठ होते हैं।

The ocean is salty, the moon is blemished, the sun is scorching, the cloud is fickle, the sky is empty, the wish-cow is but a beast, the wish-tree is only wood, the wish-jewel is only stone—so with whom can the noble be compared? That is, the noble are superior even to all of these.
