सिंह के साथ वन में रहना, हाथ में बिच्छू को लेना, कान में कनखजूरे को डालना, साँप के मुख में अँगुली डालना, विष पीना अच्छा है किन्तु धर्म व धर्मात्मा की निन्दा करना व दुष्ट के संग रहना अच्छा नहीं है, कारण कि इनकी संगति से एक ही भव बिगड़ता है किन्तु सन्त निन्दा से तो अनन्तों जन्म बिगड़ जाते हैं।

Living with a lion in the forest, taking a scorpion in hand, putting a centipede in the ear, thrusting a finger into a snake's mouth, drinking poison — all are better than slandering dharma and the righteous or keeping company with the wicked; for by such company only one birth is ruined, but by slandering saints countless births are ruined.
