जिस प्रकार ईंधन सहित अग्नि में वृद्धि होती है उसी प्रकार चिंता युक्त मनुष्य के संसार की वृद्धि होती है क्योंकि चिंता से कर्म बंध होता है। ''दरिद्र को सदा अनेक प्रकार की चिंता होती हैं। जो होने वाला है वह होता है, जो नहीं होने वाला है, वह नहीं होता है इस प्रकार की निश्चित बुद्धि वाले को चिंता की बाधा नहीं सताती है।''

As fire grows with fuel, so the worldly cycle of an anxious person grows, because worry binds karma. "The destitute always have many kinds of worry. What is to happen happens, what is not to happen does not; one whose mind is settled in this conviction is not troubled by worry."
