जिस प्रकार ईंधन सहित अग्नि में वृद्धि होती है उसी प्रकार चिंता युक्त मनुष्य के संसार की वृद्धि होती है क्योंकि चिंता से कर्म बंध होता है। ‘‘दरिद्र को सदा अनेक प्रकार की चिंता होती हैं। जो होने वाला है वह होता है, जो नहीं होने वाला है, वह नहीं होता है इस प्रकार की निश्चित बुद्धि वाले को चिंता की बाधा नहीं सताती है।’’

Just as fire with fuel grows, so the worldly bondage of a worried person grows, for worry causes karmic bondage. "The poor are forever beset by many kinds of worry. What is to happen happens, and what is not to happen does not — one of such settled understanding is never troubled by worry."
