दान-पूजा श्रावक के लिए मुख्य हैं, ध्यान-अध्ययन साधु के लिए मुख्य हैं, दान से सारभूत चक्रवर्ती के भोग प्राप्त होते हैं, पूजा से देवों द्वारा पूज्य तीर्थंकर पद की प्राप्ति होती है।

Charity and worship are foremost for the layman, meditation and study are foremost for the saint; by charity one obtains the essential enjoyments of a Chakravarti, and by worship one attains the state of a Tirthankar, worshipped by the gods.
