परोपकार में सर्वदा संलग्न रहने वाला सज्जन व्यक्ति विनाश के अवसर पर भी विनाश करने वाले से भी शत्रु भाव नहीं रखता है जैसे चन्दन का वृक्ष काटने वाले कुल्हाड़े का भी मुख सुगन्धित कर देता है।

A good person ever engaged in benefiting others holds no enmity even toward the one destroying him at the moment of destruction, just as the sandalwood tree perfumes even the edge of the axe that cuts it.
