अनाथपने का बोध- वन में घूमते हुये श्रेणिक ने मुनिराज को शिलातल पर विराजे हुये देखकर कहा, आपका कोई संरक्षक नहीं है, अनाथ हो तो मेरे राज में चलो? मुनिराज ने कहा राजन्! एक बार मैं बीमार पड़गया था, मेरा दुःख कोई बटा नहीं सका, अतः स्वयं का नाथ बनने आया हूँ, तब राजा को अपने अनाथपने का बोध हुआ था और अहङ्कार चूर हो गया था।

Realisation of helplessness: Roaming the forest, King Shrenik saw a muni seated on a rock and said, "You have no protector; if you are helpless, come into my kingdom." The muni replied, "O King, once I fell ill and no one could share my suffering; so I have come to become my own master." Then the king realised his own helplessness and his pride was shattered.
