दान दुर्गति का नाशक है, हित करने वाला है, अतः दान में आलस नहीं करना चाहिए, दान के द्वारा ही गृहस्थी गुणवती मानी गयी है, बुद्धिमानों का प्रयत्न दान के लिए हुआ करता है, दान को छोड़कर कोई उत्तम सुख का देने वाला नहीं है, समझदार ही दान देते हैं, दान ही पात्र के मन को अपनी ओर खींचता है, अतः यही कहना है, कि सब लोग दान जरूर दिया करें।

Charity is the destroyer of evil destinies and the doer of good; so one should not be lazy in giving. It is by charity that a householder's life is deemed worthy; the efforts of the wise are directed toward charity; nothing but charity bestows the highest happiness; only the wise give charity; charity alone draws the recipient's heart toward the giver — therefore the message is that all people should surely give in charity.
