आहार का दाता- इस अवसर्पिणी में दान तीर्थ के कर्ता राजा श्रेयाँस हुये, जिनकी यश चन्द्रिका लोक में फैली है, तीर्थंङ्कर या ऋद्धिधारी मुनि को आहार देने से पञ्चाश्चर्य होते हैं, तीर्थंङ्कर का प्रथम आहारदाता तद्भव मोक्षगामी होता है, राजा श्रेयाँस का दस भव पूर्व का संस्कार था, भरत चक्रवर्ती राजा श्रेयाँस के दर्शनार्थ आये, छेवले के वृक्ष के नीचे राजा श्रेयाँस का सम्मान किया था, उसी दिन से अक्षय तृतीया पर्व प्रारम्भ हुआ था।

The giver of food: in this descending time-cycle King Shreyans was the founder of the tirtha of charity, whose fame spread through the world. Offering food to a Tirthankar or a muni of miraculous powers brings forth the five wonders, and the first food-giver to a Tirthankar attains liberation in that very life. King Shreyans had the disposition from ten births past; Bharat Chakravarti came for his darshan; he honoured him beneath the chhevla tree, and from that day the festival of Akshaya Tritiya began.
