सोला-सोलह प्रकार का- द्रव्यशुद्धि- 1. अन्न 'सड़ा, घुना न हो', 2.जल शुद्ध हो 3. ईंधन शुद्ध हो, 4. भोजन बनाने वाला शुद्ध हो। क्षेत्र शुद्धि- 1. प्रकाश हो, 2.वायु हो, 3.दुर्गन्ध न हो, 4.चौके में शौचालय न हो। काल शुद्धि- 1.ग्रहण न हो, 2.शोक न हो, 3.रात्रि न हो, 4.जिस काल में प्रभावना हो उस काल में दान देना। भाव शुद्धि- 1.दान देने का भाव हो, 2.करुणा सहित हो, 3.वात्सल्य सहित हो, 4.विनय सहित हो।

The sixteenfold (purity): Substance-purity—(1) grain must not be rotten or worm-eaten, (2) water pure, (3) fuel pure, (4) the cook pure. Place-purity—(1) there is light, (2) air, (3) no stench, (4) no toilet in the kitchen. Time-purity—(1) no eclipse, (2) no mourning, (3) not night, (4) give at a time of prabhavana (glorification of the faith). Intention-purity—(1) the wish to give, (2) with compassion, (3) with affection, (4) with humility.
