दान प्रशंसनीय है त्याग पूज्यनीय है, स्वयं की भलाई के लिये रसादि का त्याग और परोपकार के लिये रसादि का दान होता है, दानी गद्दी पर, त्यागी सिंहासन पर बैठता है।

Charity is praiseworthy, renunciation is venerable; giving up tastes is for one's own good, giving tastes to others is charity; the giver sits on a cushion, the renouncer on a throne.
