यदि खेत में वाड़ी न हो तो लहलहाते खेत चौपट हो जाते हैं, इसी प्रकार संयम वाड़ी है संयम न हो तो शेष गुण भी स्थायी नहीं रहते हैं।

If a field has no fence, the flourishing crop is ruined; likewise restraint is the fence, and without it even the other virtues do not endure.
