मन्दिर बनाने का मान नहीं- हस्तिनापुर में एक सेठ ने मन्दिर बनवाया, जब मन्दिर पूरा बन गया एवं कुछ काम और शेष था, तब सेठजी ने समाज की एक बैठक बुलाई और समाज से कहा कि अब इस मन्दिर का काम पूरी समाज को पूर्ण करना है, आगे मेरी शक्ति नहीं है, पूरा मन्दिर बनवाने के बाद विनाअहम् के मन्दिर समाज को सौंप दिया उस मन्दिर में सेठजी का कहीं पर नाम भी नहीं है, यह मान कषाय के मर्दन करने का तरीका है।

No pride in building the temple—In Hastinapur a merchant had a temple built; when it was nearly complete with only a little work left, he called a meeting of the community and said, 'Now the whole community must finish this temple's work; I have no further strength.' Though he had built the entire temple, he handed it over to the community without any ego, and nowhere in that temple does his name appear—this is the way to crush the passion of pride.
