संयमाय श्रुतं धत्ते धर्माय संयमं। धर्मं मोक्षाय मेधावी धनं दानाय भुक्तये।।

बुद्धिमान संयम के लिए श्रुत, धर्म के लिए संयम, मोक्ष के लिए धर्म, दान और भोग के लिए धन ग्रहण करते हैं।

The wise take up scripture for the sake of self-restraint, restraint for the sake of dharma, dharma for the sake of liberation, and wealth for the sake of charity and enjoyment.
