जो तीन लोक के नाथ के सामने, गुरु के सामने 'सम्मान' करवाता है वह सम्माननीय नहीं हो सकता है। जिस जगह खड़े होकर निर्वस्त्र होने के भाव होने चाहिए थे, उस जगह शाल ओढ़ रहा है, जिस भूमि पर बैठकर माला फेरने के भाव होने चाहिए थे, वहाँ पर माला पहन रहा है इसका तात्पर्य अभी भव-भ्रमण की माला बाकी है। जिन्होंने मान और मालायें छोड़ी हैं, उनके चरणों में भवसागर तिरने आना था वहाँ सम्मान कराने लगे हैं। अरे जब तक भव (शरीर) का सम्मान चलता रहेगा तब तक भवातीत नहीं हो सकते हैं। कहते हो आज अष्टमी को हरी का त्याग है और उन्हीं पुष्पों की जिसमें करोड़ों कीड़े भरे हैं, उनकी माला पहन रहे हो, भले ही प्लास्टिक के फूलों की हो, ध्यान रखना जब पाषाण के परमात्मा की वंदना करने से निर्बन्ध हो सकते हो, तो फिर फूलों के नाम पर प्लास्टिक के फूलों की माला पहनने से कर्म बंध क्यों नहीं होगा? क्योंकि संकल्प तो पुष्प माला का ही किया है।

One who has himself 'honored' before the Lord of the three worlds and before the teacher cannot be worthy of honor. Where he ought to have felt the urge to stand disrobed, he is wrapping himself in a shawl; where he ought to have sat to turn a rosary, he is wearing a garland—meaning the rosary of his wandering through births is still unfinished. Those who have given up pride and garlands should have come to their feet to cross the ocean of rebirth, yet they have started having themselves honored. As long as the honoring of worldly existence (the body) continues, one cannot transcend it. You say that today, on the eighth day, you renounce greens, yet you wear a garland of those very flowers full of countless insects—even if of plastic flowers, remember: if you can become free of bondage by venerating the stone image of God, then why would there be no karmic bondage in wearing a plastic-flower garland in the name of flowers? Because the intention was of a flower garland all the same.
