पण्डित गोपालदास जी ने कुर्ते सिलवाये जब बाहर जाने लगे तो, एक-एक कुर्ता पहनते जाते और उतारते जाते, लोगों ने पूछा क्या कर रहे हो? तो कहा इनको पुराने कर रहा हूँ, नये कपड़ों पर टेक्स देना पड़ता है, पण्डितजी सरकारी नियम का उल्लङ्घन नहीं करते थे।

Making the kurtas old: Pandit Gopaldas ji had some kurtas stitched, and when about to travel he put each on and took it off one by one. When people asked what he was doing, he said, 'I am making them old, for one must pay tax on new clothes.' The Pandit would not break a government rule.
