सत्य निष्ठ- पण्डित गोपालदास जी ने बम्बई यात्रा में बेटे माणिक का टिकट नहीं लिया, वहाँ पहुंचने पर याद आया कि बच्चे की उम्र तीन वर्ष छः दिन हो गयी, इसलिये टिकट लेना चाहिये था, रेलवे की चोरी का खेद हुआ, घर आकर मनि ऑर्डर से रेलवे आफिस को आधे टिकट का पैसा क्षमा माँगते हुए भेज दिया, अङ्ग्रेज था उसने सोचा भारत में इतने प्रमाणिक लोग रहते हैं, उसने पण्डितजी का एड्रेस लेकर सूचना प्रसारित की कि पण्डित गोपालदास जी बरैया, मुरैना न्याय प्रिय व्यक्ति है, यात्रा में इनकी टिकट और लगेज में पूँछताछ न की जाये।

Truthful: on a journey to Bombay Pandit Gopaldas ji did not buy a ticket for his son Manik; on arriving he recalled that the child was three years and six days old and so a ticket should have been bought. Regretting having cheated the railway, on returning home he sent, by money order and with an apology, the fare for a half-ticket to the railway office. The English officer, thinking how many honest people live in India, took the Pandit's address and circulated a notice that Pandit Gopaldas ji Baraiya of Morena is a lover of justice, and that his ticket and luggage should not be checked during travel.
