संसारी प्राणी सन्त की तरह जन्मता है, कंस की तरह जीता है और कष्ट से मरता है एवं जन्म के समय दोनों हाथ कानों के पास होते हैं, अर्थात् कहता है कि हे भगवान्! अब मैं कान पकड़ता हूँ कोई पाप नहीं करूँगा, मुट्ठी बाँध के आता है अर्थात् पुण्य लेकर आता है और खाली करके अर्थात् पाप लेकर जाता है।

A worldly being is born like a saint, lives like Kamsa (the tyrant), and dies in suffering. At birth both hands are near the ears — as if to say, 'O Lord, I hold my ears (in repentance), I shall commit no sin'; he comes with fists clenched, that is, bringing merit, and leaves with empty hands, that is, carrying away sin.
