श्रावक का साधु के कमण्डलु की भांति आय का श्रोत बड़ा एवं टोंटी की भांति व्यय का श्रोत छोटा होना चाहिए तभी गृहस्थ जीवन धर्ममय हो सकता है।

Like a monk's water-pot, a layman's source of income should be wide but, like its spout, his channel of spending should be narrow; only then can household life become imbued with Dharma.
