पिच्छी की डण्डी सम्यक्त्व का प्रतीक है, पङ्ख- चरित्र के प्रतीक हैं और डोरी- ज्ञान का प्रतीक है, जैसे डोरी डण्डी और पङ्ख को सम्भालती है उसी प्रकार ज्ञान बीच में रखा है जो सम्यक्त्व और चरित्र दोनों को सम्भालता है, तथा पिच्छी रत्नत्रय का प्रतीक है।

The handle of the pichhi symbolises right-faith, the feathers symbolise conduct, and the cord symbolises knowledge. Just as the cord holds together the handle and feathers, so knowledge lies in between, sustaining both right-faith and conduct; thus the pichhi is a symbol of the Three Jewels.
