मोक्ष के साधन में अनुपयोगी नाम, स्थापना, द्रव्य, क्षेत्र, काल, भाव का परमार्थ से सेवन नहीं करना चाहिए, परमार्थ से अर्थात् उपसर्ग आदि के कारण अयोग्य का सेवन होने पर भी प्रत्याख्यान में हानि नहीं होती है, शुद्धोपयोग में सहायक नामादि का सेवन मन को पवित्र करता और ''सदा अपराध की गन्ध से दूर रहने वाला साधु रत्नत्रय का आराधक होता है''।

In the means of liberation, one should not, from the ultimate standpoint, resort to name, installation, substance, place, time and state that are useless; yet from the ultimate standpoint, even if the unfit is resorted to due to calamity etc., there is no loss to the renunciation. Resorting to name etc. that aid pure application purifies the mind, and 'the saint who ever stays far from the very smell of transgression is a worshipper of the three jewels.'
