प्रतिक्रमण विधान- आदिनाथ भगवान् व महावीर भगवान् के समय प्रतिदिन प्रतिक्रमण करने का विधान है, शेष बाईस तीर्थंकरों के समय सब व्रतों में आहार, विहार, दुःस्वप्न, ईर्यापथ आदि में दोष लगें तब प्रतिक्रमण करते थे, मध्यम तीर्थंकरों के समय शिष्यों के बुद्धिकौशल था, पराक्रम सुदृढ़ था, चित्त एकाग्र और स्वलक्ष्य में दृष्टि रहती थी, किन्तु प्रथम और ''अन्तिम तीर्थंकर के समय शिष्य अज्ञानी व चञ्चल चित्त हैं, अपने अपराधों की स्मृति नहीं रहती है, अतः सबका प्रतिक्रमण करते हैं''।

The rule of repentance: in the time of Lord Adinath and Lord Mahavir there is a rule of daily repentance; in the time of the remaining twenty-two Tirthankars, they repented only when a fault arose in the vows regarding food, travel, bad dreams, movement etc. In the time of the middle Tirthankars the disciples had keen intellect, firm valour, concentrated minds and vision fixed on their goal; but 'in the time of the first and last Tirthankars the disciples are ignorant and fickle-minded and do not remember their own transgressions, hence they repent for all.'
