मान्यं ज्ञानं तपो हीनं, ज्ञान हीनं तपोऽर्हितं। द्वयं यस्य स देवः स्यात्, तद्विहीनो गण पूर्णः।।

तप से हीन ज्ञान मान्य है और ज्ञान से हीन तप पूज्य है, जिसके ज्ञान और तप दोनों होते हैं वह देव होता है और जो दोनों से रहित है वह केवल मनुष्य की संख्या पूरी करने वाला है।

Knowledge without austerity is respected and austerity without knowledge is venerated; one who has both knowledge and austerity becomes a god, while one devoid of both merely makes up the count of human beings.
