नागश्री ने अणुव्रत पिता की आज्ञा के विना ले लिये, पिता जी को मालूम चला, तो व्रत वापस करने मुनिराज के पास गये। रास्ते में एक व्यक्ति की पिटाई हो रही थी, कारण पूँछा, बताया कि इसने हिंसा की है इसलिये पीटा जा रहा है। नागश्री ने पिता से कहा कि यही व्रत तो मैंने लिया है इसको छोड़कर शेष वापस कर दो। आगे जिव्हा छेदन, हाँथ काटना, लिङ्ग छेदन, छापा मारी आदि प्रसङ्ग पाकर पाँचों व्रतों की स्वीकृति ले ली, पिता ने सोचा चलो मुनिराज को उलाहना तो दे आयें, विना पूँछे व्रत क्यों दिये? मुनिराज ने कहा ये मेरी पुत्री है इसलिए व्रत दिये, वह घबरा गया और राजा से शिकायत कर दी, राजा मुनिराज से नम्रता पूर्वक पूँछते हैं, तो मुनिराज ने उन्हे अपने भव एवं पहले के रिश्ते बताये, राजा गद-गद हो गया और पुत्री ने कहा वास्तव में आप मेरे जन्म दाता हैं।

Nagashri took the minor vows without her father's permission; when the father learned of it, they went to the muni to return the vows. On the way a man was being beaten; on asking the reason, they were told he was being beaten because he had committed violence. Nagashri told her father, 'This is the very vow I have taken; keep it and return the rest.' Further, coming upon incidents of tongue-cutting, hand-cutting, mutilation, branding and the like, she confirmed all five vows. The father thought, let me at least reproach the muni: why did he give vows without asking? The muni said, 'She is my daughter, so I gave the vows.' The father was alarmed and complained to the king; the king humbly asked the muni, who told him of his past births and former relationships. The king was moved to tears, and the daughter said, 'In truth you are my father who gave me birth.'
