लड़की ने जिद की, कि मैं नए कपड़े पहनूँगी पुराने नहीं, वह ठण्ड में काँप रही थी, उससे पूँछा क्या हो गया? उसने बोला पुराने कपड़े पहनना नहीं है नए कपड़े माँ देती नहीं है इसलिए ठण्ड में काँप रही हूँ। इसी प्रकार पञ्चम् काल में शुद्धोपयोग होता नहीं है। शुभोपयोग से संवर-निर्जरा के साथ बन्ध भी होता है, यदि बन्ध के भय से शुभोपयोग को नहीं अपनायेंगे तो अशुभोपयोग ही हाथ लगेगा और उससे दुर्गति में जाना पड़ेगा।

A girl insisted that she would wear only new clothes, not old ones; she was shivering in the cold. Asked what the matter was, she said she does not want to wear old clothes and her mother does not give new ones, so she shivers in the cold. Likewise in the fifth era pure application is not possible. Along with stoppage and shedding, auspicious application also causes some bondage; if out of fear of bondage one does not adopt auspicious application, only inauspicious application will remain, and by that one must go to an evil destiny.
