जैसे विभीषण राक्षस वंश का होते हुए भी, राक्षस वंश के विनाश का कारण बना, लकड़ी काटने में कुल्हाड़ी में लगा लकड़ी का बेंट ही कारण है तथा लोहे को लोहा काटता है उसी प्रकार तीर्थंकर प्रकृति कर्म के वंश की होते हुए भी कर्मों के वंश को नष्ट करने वाली है।

Just as Vibhishan, though of the demon race, became the cause of the destruction of the demon race; just as in cutting wood it is the wooden handle fitted in the axe that is the cause, and iron cuts iron; so the Tirthankar-nature-karma, though of the lineage of karma, is what destroys the lineage of karma.
