'आओ चोर चोरी कर ले गओ, मोरी मूँदत मुगद फिरे' अर्थात् किसी के घर में चोरी हो गयी, दूसरे दिन उसने घर के पीछे की पानी बहने की मोरी बन्द कर दी, किन्तु खिड़की बन्द की ही नहीं, जहाँ से चोर आ सकता था, उसी प्रकार अज्ञानी प्राणी जिन भावों से कर्मों का बन्ध होता है उन्हें पहचानता ही नहीं है।

'The thief came and stole, and the fool goes about closing the drain'—that is, a theft occurred in a house; next day the man blocked the drain-hole at the back through which water flowed, but did not close the window through which the thief could actually come. In the same way the ignorant soul does not even recognize the states through which karma is bound.
