श्रीकृष्ण के पिता वसुदेव के बैरी सूर्पक नामक देव ने वसुदेव का हरण किया, उन्होंने मुक्कों से उसकी पिटाई की तो छूटकर गझ्झा नदी में गिरे, वहाँ से निकलकर जङ्गल में घूमने लगे वहाँ म्लेच्छों के राजा ने उन्हे देखा जिससे म्लेच्छराज की जरा नामक कन्या को व्याहकर वहीं रहने लगे और उस कन्या से जरत्कुमार नामक पुत्र उत्पन्न हुआ। नेमिनाथ भगवान् जब गर्भ में आये तब प्रतिदिन, दिन में तीन बार साढ़े तीन करोड़ रत्नों की वर्षा होती थी, चौदह रत्नों की एक-एक हजार देव रक्षा करते थे।
