समुद्रों के जल का स्वाद- लवण समुद्र के जल का स्वाद नमक के समान है। वारुणीवर समुद्र के जल का स्वाद शराब के समान है, घृतवर का जल घी और क्षीरवर का जल दूध के समान है। कालोदधि और अन्तिम स्वयम्भूरमण समुद्र का जल पानी के समान है। पुष्करवर समुद्र का मधु और पानी के समान तथा बाकी समस्त समुद्र इधु रस के समान स्वाद वाले हैं।

The taste of the oceans' waters: the Lavana ocean's water tastes like salt; the Varunivara ocean's water tastes like wine; the Ghritavara's water is like ghee and the Kshiravara's water like milk; the Kalodadhi and the last, Svayambhuramana, ocean's water is like plain water; the Pushkaravara ocean's is like honey and water, and all the remaining oceans taste like sugar-cane juice.
