फूल लाल या सफेद- हनुमान जी ने रामचन्द्र जी से कहा ! अशोक वाटिका मुझे सबसे अच्छी लगी उसमें लाल फूल खिले थे, तभी बीच में सीता बोल पड़ी मैं उसमें बहुत दिन रही हूँ उसमें सफेद फूल खिले थे, हनुमान जी और सीताजी में लाल-सफेद रञ्ज पर बहस छिड़ी थी, तभी रामचन्द्रजी ने कहा आप दोनों सत्य बोल रहे हैं, तब हनुमानजी ने कहा सत्य तो एक ही होगा, रामचन्द्रजी ने कहा हनुमानजी जब आप अशोक वाटिका में थे तब क्रोध में थे, इसलिए लाल फूल दिखे, सीताजी उस समय आँसुओं से युक्त थी, इसलिए उसे सफेद फूल दिखे, अतः अपेक्षा से दोनों कथन सही हैं इसी प्रकार प्रत्येक विषय में समझना चाहिए।

Red flower or white: Hanuman told Rama, 'I liked the Ashoka grove best; red flowers were blooming in it.' At that Sita broke in, 'I stayed there many days; white flowers were blooming in it.' A debate over the red-white colour arose between them, whereupon Rama said, 'You are both speaking the truth.' Hanuman said, 'Truth can be only one.' Rama said, 'Hanuman, when you were in the Ashoka grove you were in anger, so you saw red flowers; Sita at that time was full of tears, so she saw white flowers — hence, from their respective standpoints both statements are correct.' One should understand every matter in this way.
