कुत्ता हड्डी को चबाता है और सोचता है हड्डी से खून आ रहा है, उसी प्रकार अज्ञानी प्राणी समझता है, कि भोगों से आनन्द आ रहा है, पर आनन्द तो आत्मा का स्वभाव है जड़ का नहीं।

A dog chews a bone and thinks the blood comes from the bone (not knowing it is its own); likewise the ignorant being thinks joy comes from sensual pleasures, but joy is the nature of the soul, not of inert matter.
