कृपणेन समो दाता, न भूतो न भविष्यति। अस्पृशन्नेव वित्तानि, यः परेभ्यः प्रयच्छति।।

कञ्जूस के समान दाता न हुआ है न होगा, क्योंकि वह धन को छुए विना ही दूसरों को दे देता है, अर्थात् स्वयं दान व भोग न करके पूरा छोड़ करके चला जाता है।

There has been, and will be, no giver like the miser, for he gives his wealth to others without ever touching it — leaving it all behind, having neither given nor enjoyed it himself.
